A Summer to Treasure

To me, when those school bells threaten the last days of summer and the back-to-school ads continue to bombard my every sense, summer is fading fast. Even though the calendar still holds summer, we all know what is coming. Those golden twilight evenings I so treasure are fading, not lingering for long now.

The summer has been magical in the way ttwd keeps things so vibrant. I kid you not! During those pre-ttwd years, I would have not believed this loving environment we find ourselves living was possible.

Now, I say a fond goodbye to one of the best summers of my life. Ttwd guests, our travel to faraway places, and the enjoyment of our home all made for many wonderful memories.

I invite you to share a summer memory that will help you brave the long winter until we welcome the next summer. Now bring on the autumn, its crisp days and spectacular foilage........... Let's hear a summer memory you hold dear.

Meredith

The memory that will stay with me right now is the first vacation my guy and I took this summer. We needed to be alone together after such a hard, hard year!

This has been a hard year, but my favourite memory so far is "Crossing the line."

  4. Without a doubt, my greatest summer memory is watching my daughter return to good health, step back on the great stage of life, and begin to take back what has been previously denied. Thank God.

  5. I have had a wonderful summer, too many memories to pick just one.
I have seen the delight on my 91-year-old mother’s face when we took her on a short break to a seaside resort.
I’ve spent quality time with my daughters, both of whom live a long way from home.
For the second year running, I joined a special group of spanky ladies for a week in the sun.
As a bonus, just a fortnight later, Harry and I were able to spend some time with Meredith and Jack during their visit to England.
Only last week I had lunch with Ella, Ronnie and Ami in London.
I have been truly blessed in this glorious summer, which isn’t quite over yet.

  6. Although it wasn't quite summer yet, our little getaway in June to the city, was the highlight of the last 3 months. We are looking to start the Fall season with something similar, later in Sept.
Sounds like you had a memory making summer, Meredith! ... hugs ... nj

  7. By far, meeting Katie and Rob! It was the beginning of our one sacred two week period that we have no responsibilities other than to do what we want. It was a very quick, very wonderful 24 hours(ish).

  10. Meredith, Your summer memories are great motivation for me. As you know, my summer is filled with pain and struggles but there are moments that I will cherish forever... like my daughter laying her head on my shoulder during a car ride.
I'm not a fan of the cold and darkness brought on by winter but though the summer sun shone brightly, winter was in our home.

  11. I loved reading all the wonderful summer memories. I have hot weather all year round, and the summer season for you tends to be the worst over here for us. But our weather is changing some, and the best part of my year will be coming up soon in the 'ber' months. Sept - Dec. I'm looking forward to cooler days, rainy nights, maybe a vacation with BIKSS (fingers crossed) and Christmas prep! I hope the rest of the year goes great for all of you too!

  14. It was actually a very hard summer, so I'm not sure I have a memory to hold onto. I usually hate the coming of winter. The cold, the slippery snowy paths, driving on icy roads, power interruptions on cold days, but this year, I'm looking forward to the break. It was sooo hot here this summer that for almost two months we couldn't be outside for more than a few minutes because of heat warnings and heat exhaustion, and I live in Canada! lol I will miss how pretty the lawn looks freshly cut though. :) And sitting on the beach.

  15. You sure sound like you had a wonderful summer Meredith. Nice to have made special memories. As your summer fades, so ours begins. Its spring here now with all the pretty blossoms and flowers in the gardens. My favourite time of the year.
