Meeting A Faithful Reader

When I started blogging, I had no idea that I would actually meet other women who were in ttwd relationships. I now have met three. Today though I met not someone who is a blogger, but a reader. SS B has been reading and commenting on my blog for a long time. She has been emailing me for almost two years. We knew each other well, but had never met. Funny how that sounds!
She and her husband met me for lunch. Jack was unable to meet with us as he has a previous engagement.

When we met, we hugged just like we have known one another for ages. We went into the restaurant and began a long conversation over a delicious meal. We already knew a great deal about one another.  We recalled things we had told one another about our families and talents. Our time was relaxed and reunion-like and yet, we were meeting for the very first time. SS B gifted me with small things for our kitchen. Sweet!

After lunch, SS B's husband left the restaurant giving us time to "girl talk" about the very thing that had brought us together. Now the two wives could really talk and that is just what we did. SS B and I have been emailing for a long time. The ttwd conversation was relaxed, helpful and even funny! We talked about many things the way wives do!

Then we did a little window shopping together. We had both dressed up believing first impressions were important. We looked great. We prowled the elegant stores that circled our restaurant. SS B knows fashion and the way clothes are made. She taught me a little about the more elegant things we touched and drooled over, but we bought nothing. True window shoppers!

Then the time came to say good-bye. We hugged and promised another time when all four of us could get together. I walked away with a big smile. Meeting an online friend is the best.

Thank you, SS B for a great time.

  4. This is a really nice post about finally putting a face to an email. How great it is for me to read about these meetings. It must be so exciting to finally connect this way after corresponding for so long. You are a great friend to so many Meredith, know that you are loved and appreciated. Xo

  5. Hi Meredith, this sounds like a wonderful day. I am happy for you having had such a great time.

  6. Meredith,
Thank you for memorializing this most special day of ours, one we have looked forward to for a very long time. In fact, early in our correspondence, you promised me that we would meet one day, despite the fact that many miles separate our homes. But there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like meeting a kindred sister. It was a beautiful time together, and I can't wait until we can do it again...with Jack. J
In this lifestyle/dynamic, we all need each other.
    Love you, dear sister.

  7. It's wonderful that you have been able to meet in real life!

  8. What a wonderful opportunity to be able to sit down face to face and chat. Glad the two if you were able to share a gift of time.

  9. Sounds like a very special day. The words "kindred sisters" describe it beautifully. Am glad the two of you got some time alone, too. I really smiled when I read this post, Mere.
